Sabreen – Live in Jerusalem 2010

In 2010, the Palestinian band Sabreen performed a rooftop concert in Jerusalem, later released as a deluxe gatefold vinyl LP titled Live in Jerusalem 2010.

Album Details

Context:
The concert was the culmination of artist Michael Rakowitz’s project The Breakup. The performance featured Sabreen playing five Arabic-inflected Beatles songs.

Physical Release:
The limited edition LP was published by Bidoun and produced in collaboration with Lombard Freid Gallery and Al Ma'mal Foundation for Contemporary Art in Jerusalem.

Vinyl Color:
Pressed on sky-blue vinyl.

Artwork:
The cover concept referenced John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s Live Peace in Toronto 1969. It featured a collage combining an aerial image of the 2009 Gaza bombardment with a background of an Yves Klein painting, offering a darker perspective on utopia.
